Riding for Healing

Ascent 121 shared recently that healing from deep trauma is a life-long journey that occurs in a variety of spaces and places. Ascent 121 utilizes equine therapy as a key part of how they support young survivors of human trafficking.

Through the sessions with one of our partners, Agape Therapeutic Riding, they have seen survivors choose faith over fear- sometimes starting to engage with horses is the hardest part. Survivors can build trust at their own pace and discover their assertive voices to clearly communicate wants and needs. While with the horses, survivors can experience healthy attachment without pressure or expectation.

The equine therapy is both therapeutic and transformative. The interactions with the horses fuel conversations between the Ascent 121 team and survivors that celebrate growth and help them continue their healing journey.

Ascent 121 is raising $30,000 so more survivors can access the transformative care and support.
